Projects with EU

DEAFVOC 2

The project improves the status of Sign language users in working life.

The countries involved in the project are Finland, Slovenia, Ireland and Austria. The project is coordinated by the Finnish Association of the Deaf.

The project strives to improve the opportunities for vocational training of Deaf youth as well as increase their knowledge of the rules of working life, such as employment contracts and the rights and duties of the employee.

DEAFVOC 2 produces teaching material for the vocational training of the Deaf and modifies the vocational curricula in Slovenia and Ireland.

The project is a continuation of the DEAFVOC-project, which was carried out in 2003–2006. During the DEAFVOC-project a survey on the situation of Deaf education in the EU countries was carried out and a model curriculum for vocational language instruction was produced.

The countries participating in the first phase were Finland, Austria, Greece and the Czech Republic.

The project is funded by the Programme for Lifelong Learning of the EU and the Finnish Association of the Deaf.
